Working at Nichols Cauley is the fulfillment of a dream Denise O'Connell has had since learning some bookkeeping skills from her mother at age 12. Following a tax course while still in high school, Denise studied accounting at Kennesaw State University, where she earned both a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a Master's degree in Accounting. Since joining Nichols Cauley, Denise has served clients with exceptional tax and accounting services. In discussing her work at Nichols Cauley, she says, "I enjoy helping others meet their potential…. Not every project is a life-changing project. However, every completed project is a step toward the ultimate goal."
Denise's personal interests are as varied as her professional interests: tennis, crafting, antiquing, music, Broadway plays, and hiking. She enjoys spending time with her family, including two sons and their wives, three grandchildren, and her husband. She also gives back to the community as an active volunteer in her church and an officer or committee member for five not-for-profit organizations.
About Denise O'Connell
You know that friend who always has all the answers, the first one you call for sage advice and action? That's Denise...Denise brings decades of experience in tax, accounting, and consulting to individuals, family-owned businesses, nonprofits, and other closely held entities. She began learning bookkeeping at age 12 in her mother's small business and was preparing tax returns by high school. This provided broad, hands-on exposure to real-world financial issues that fueled her love of numbers and analysis. Today, she is recognized by colleagues and clients as "the one to call for answers," applying her deep technical knowledge to everyday matters and highly complex challenges. With a practical, client-first approach, Denise helps business owners navigate tax filings, IRS audits and notices, accounting needs, consulting projects, and key business decisions with clarity and confidence.
My Favorite Part: "That I can better serve clients by drawing on the expertise of other specialists across the firm, allowing us to take a true team approach to caring for our clients. I know that I can call any team member when I need them—whether it's a personal, team, or community need, and especially a client need."
